New Spotlight Publication: The ongoing German Zeitenwende

The Russian war of aggression against Ukraine has shaken Germany in multiple ways – from inflation and war refugees to a reassessment of security and foreign policy. But how profoundly has the German population's self-perception regarding security policy changed?

Based on the latest survey data from the Security Radar, this analysis examines how perceptions of threats and foreign policy priorities have evolved since 2021. It focuses on three central questions:

  • How has the perception of Russia changed?
  • Why are Germans increasingly turning their attention inward?
  • What are the consequences of dwindling support for Ukraine?

Read more about the current security policy challenges and the resulting recommendations for German politics in our latest Spotlight publication The ongoing German Zeitenwende.
