It’s complicated.
Stopping the war in Ukraine and rebuilding peace in Europe will have to be carried out at different levels, covering a wide range of issues and involving a number of actors. Through a series of “Conversations on European Security” the Geneva Centre for Security Policy and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung have identified several elements that need to be considered. The interactive, digital Peace Matrix outlines the multidimensional nature of the security challenges in the OSCE area and provides an overview of the different pieces involved and how they inter-relate.
The matrix is designed as an entry point for understanding the complex challenges that lie ahead. We invite readers to use it to sketch peace paths by selecting issues to form part of peace negotiations and bringing them into a chronological order, as well as amend issues or add new ones.
