    Director

    Christos Katsioulis is a political scientist working mainly on security policy in Europe. His thematic focus lies on the eternal question of European strategic autonomy in an ever more turbulent world. Before coming to Vienna in 2021 he has represented FES in Greece, the UK and Brussels.

    Senior Researcher

    Dr. Alexandra Dienes’ research focuses on European security, Russian foreign policy and political economy, and the OSCE. She leads the survey Security Radar/Global Radar. She also heads Women in International Security Austria and teaches at the Central European University.

    Elena Josten holds an M.A. in International Development and has worked for various NGOs in Germany, Argentina, and Chile. Her areas of interest include European security, social inequality and international development. At FES ROCPE, she focuses on country reports for the Global Radar.

    Sabrina Kaschowitz

    Senior Researcher & Project Manager

    Sabrina Kaschowitz holds an MSc in Environmental Technology and International Relations from the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna and TU Vienna. Having first joined FES in Beirut, she now works at FES ROCPE on the climate-security nexus through feminist and decolonial lenses.

    Margarete Lengger studied Political Science at the University of Vienna and Institute for Advanced Studies, Vienna. As Communications Coordinator at FES Vienna, she works for both resident offices. Previously, she worked for an MP, a presidential election, and a feminist cultural festival.

    Gloria Sack studied business administration at the Freie Universität Berlin with a focus on taxes and accounting. In July 2019, she started working for FES in Vienna. As a very experienced accountant, Gloria Sack is responsible for all matters concerning financial management and controlling.

    Research Associate

    Benedikt Unkel is a master student at the University of Vienna and supports the FES Democracy and Future team in conducting quantitative data analysis. Benedikt’s work mostly focuses on questions concerning the political behavior of young people and gender-related differences.

    Simon Weiß studied political science and sociology at Heidelberg University and previously taught international relations and Russian foreign policy there. His work focuses on Russia, Ukraine, European security, defense policy and arms control.

    Julia Zöllner studied business administration with a focus on marketing and accounting in Berlin. She joined FES with the establishment of the Vienna Office in 2016. She coordinates office and project activities, supports a smooth process, organizes events and contributes to layout aspects.
