Call for applications — 2023 Model OSCE

We are looking for 20 students and young professionals who are passionate about comprehensive security and committed to engage in a simulation game focused on conflict resolution by reproducing the Permanent Council of the OSCE, the principal decision-making body for regular political consultations and for governing the day-to-day operational work of the OSCE. Programme dates: 12-14 June 2023

Participation in Vienna: participants are expected to travel to Vienna and stay for the whole period of the activity (12-14 June 2023). The programme will include presentations about the OSCE, FES ROCPE, current challenges to European security, negotiation, dialogue, consensus and the role of gender in negations. The core activity will be a simulation exercise of the OSCE Permanent Council. Networking opportunities with OSCE representatives will also be organized.

Costs: participation in the programme is free of charge. Accommodation, transportation and meals will be provided for the duration of the event.

Selection criteria:

  • You have the nationality of one of the following OSCE participating States:  Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus. Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye, United Kingdom and United States.
  • You are 18-30 years old at the time of the Model OSCE (12-14 June 2023).
  • You have a demonstrated interest and/or relevant experience in international affairs, and you are an active and engaged member in academia, think tanks, civil society organizations, youth or youth-led organizations, education or media.
  • You are fluent in English.
  • You are eager to share experience in promoting the role of young people at different levels and learn from others.
  • You endorse the OSCE core principles and values, and are willing to engage in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Experience in engaging with local communities will be an asset.
